Surgical Services Consultant (RN)

OverviewOur client is constructing a new addition to their existing hospital footprint with a primary goal of replacing the existing Surgical Services department with a new, state-of-the-art space.
Construction is underway and the new facility is expected to become operational in the fall of 2024.
We're seeking a nurse consultant experienced in leading surgical services operations and who understands best practice in workflows, patient flows, and other related processes.
This professional will need to quickly assess current processes and workflows, partner with client stakeholders, and develop new, best practice processes and workflows for the new facility.
Expertise and experience with healthcare compliance standards such as those administered by CMMS and Joint Commission is imperative.
The ability to demonstrate how Sterile Processing & Supply integrates into Surgical Services Operations and how to maximize efficiencies between the two is required.
This individual will need an entrepreneurial spirit, strong surgical services experience, preferably as an RN or Nurse Leader, and a mature business presence to successfully engage with internal and external business partners.
The following roles and responsibilities entail most of what this role may be asked to do however may possibly expand based on the individual's and organization's needs.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesSurgical Services Project Management Assess and evaluate current processes and workflows in Surgical Services operations Identify existing inefficiencies and challenges and develop processes which eliminate or address those issues Understand the new facility layout and design goals Partner with key client stakeholders to design and develop detailed project plans including deliverables and end-goals Track progress across internal and external deliverables and provide insight into task priority, on-time delivery, project feasibility, budget, etc.
Identify and manage project risks as appropriate Steward the nursing project team Ability to integrate regulatory requirements into new policies and procedures (i.
e.
, CMMS, Joint Commission, FDA, etc.
) Communication Effectively communicate with hospital leaders and Pintail colleagues Liaise across clinical teams, facilities, design, executive leadership, and other affected departments Partner internally and externally to solve problems and navigate challenges Ensure seamless communication across the entire project Additional Responsibilities Drive operational meetings including agenda, facilitation, and minutes May support broader partner work and initiatives beyond this program Develop and execute upon Operational Readiness guidelines ahead of department moves Change leadership and management Qualifications and Education RequirementsCandidates must be an RN with Surgical Services/Central Sterile background.
Should have a 4-year college degree with some project management experience; the ability to lead others through influence; and the ability to make formal presentations to executive and operations teams alike.
The preferred candidate will have experience organizing, leading, and driving change.
Preferred SkillsCandidates need to thrive in a dynamic, service-minded, entrepreneurial environment.
Lean or Six Sigma with project management experience is preferred.
Business maturity and effective communication skills are required.
Candidates should desire to be part of a collaborative team of professionals and be interested in continual learning and development.
Additional NotesFrequent travel is required; up to 75%.
Open to W-2 or 1099.
